CASA Stands for -Court Appointed Spacial Advocates for Children. Every day children are taken from their home because of the tragic loss of a parent due to illness, violence or incarceration. We assume these children will have a safe place to live, to be treated with dignity and compassion and to be safe They need to recover from the traumatic loss of their home and family. Our child welfare system is overburdened with the growing numbers and needs of children who are in foster care through no fault of their own. That’s where CASA come in and helps! We recruit, train, and support community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children experiencing foster care in Coweta, Heard and Meriwether Counties.
CASA NEEDS VOLUNTEERS! We are committed men and women –from all walks of life – who believe that every child has the right to be treated with dignity, to be safe, and to thrive in the embrace of a loving family. Coweta CASA volunteers are trained volunteers appointed by the Juvenile Court to advocate for children experiencing foster care. Each CASA follows one court case – a child or group of siblings – providing caring attention and a voice in court. We are for the child in a hectic, overworked system.
